Pavlov
The Gravettian / Pavlovian Culture
The archaeological site of Pavlov I is less than one kilometre away from the archaeological site of Dolní Věstonice I. (To be exact, the sites with the Venus findings are referred to as “Pavlov I” and “Dolní Věstonice I”.) Both of the sites are part of the Pavlovian Culture and, therefore, have a lot in common, e.g. age, technologies and types of artefacts. (see Dolní Věstonice).
On the site of Pavlov I, there have been found several fragments of Venuses made of baked clay, and a female sculpture made of mammoth ivory.
Now, an archaeopark is being built on the site of Pavlov I. The Pavlov archaeopark is due to open in September 2015. (Some information about the archeopark can be found here.)
